Online Recertification Process for
Open Explorer and go to: www.doe.mass.edu
Click on EDUCATOR SERVICES on the menu bar
Click on LICENSE on menu bar, then select PREK-12.
Select APPLY ONLINE or RENEW ONLINE.
This will bring you to the Security Portal.
If you do not already have an account, you will need to CREATE ELAR PROFILE (most everyone will need to do this). After getting an account and setting your password, you can log on through the security portal. The online application tool then walks you through a six step process to complete an application for licensure renewal in accordance with the regulations for licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
The steps to complete the application process are:
Step 1 - Review and/or update your profile information
Step 2 - Select the licenses you wish to renew, indicating your Primary Area if one has not already been renewed
Step 3 - Confirm your Professional Development Plan activities and points Record of Eligible Professional Development Activities FORM. This form has been made into a PDF form that you can now save for your records. It will open in Adobe Reader. Fill it out with your information, then select Save AS to save it.
Step 4 - Review and/or update your Affidavit
Step 5 - Confirm and submit your Application
Step 6 - Enter Payment - DO NOT HIT THE BACK ARROW ON THE BROWSER ONCE YOU SUBMIT YOUR PAYMENT.
It is important to print a copy of the reference number. Keep this until you receive your Educator's License from the Department of Education.
