The North Attleborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council (NA SEPAC), formerly "SNAC," is a representative group of parents working together with teachers and administrators to facilitate and promote effective communication and feedback while offering resources, programs, tools and support services.
Our goal is to encourage respect, acceptance and inclusion of all children within our school system and community.
What is a PAC?
Parent Advisory Councils are a requirement of the Department of Education as outlined in the Massachusetts Special Education Law, Chapter 71B. The purpose of a PAC is a to provide parents of students with special education needs the opportunity to talk about common areas of interest and to advise the school committee about the education and well being of students with disabilities. The PAC educates and promotes awareness regarding special education services provided to all eligible students in the school system.
NA SEPAC Programming
Monthly Meetings - We will hold monthly meetings to review our schedule, introduce resources to families supporting children with special needs; and to provide an opportunity for families to ask questions and voice concerns and comments about the special education system.
Basic Rights Workshop - This is an important presentation for all families to attend to gain a better understanding of the law as it relates to children with special needs and how the state will provide education and opportunities to respect, value and support them.
Family Movie Day - We will host a Family Movie Day during February vacation to provide an opportunity for families to enjoy a movie with their children who might not otherwise be able to experience the movies. Although this is designed for families with children with special needs ALL are welcome.
ICARE Book Reading Program - Introducing Children to Acceptance through Reading and EDUCATION (ICARE) is a very special program that helps raise awareness about people of ALL abilities and is done through a reading program offered to students Kindergarten through 5th grade.
North Attleborough SEPAC Heroes - This program was introduced in 2013 to recognize outstanding teachers and students who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to support individuals with disabilities in the North Attleborough School department. Nominations are submitted by families, school staff or other members of the community no later than March 1st and awards are presented in April at a special reception help during the last SEPAC meeting of the year.
